Before starting this post, I just want to say that besides everything that’s happening in my life right now in regards to my dad, I’m just so grateful for being where I am, doing what I do, and having what I have. I’m feeling so blessed to have this job that brings me incredible opportunities like this, and I’m so happy to have such an amazing person next to me to share them with. It was my boyfriend’s birthday last Friday and I really wanted to surprise him with a two-day getaway, out in nature. Somewhere nice and quiet, far away from the pollution of the big city, ideally surrounded by woodlands, rolling hills and green fields. That’s how I imagined it! And I found… PAINSWICK!

THE PAINSWICK
This gorgeous Palladian house is situated in the petite village of Painswick, in the Cotswolds. Hidden away in the hillside, the manor is absolutely dreamy! The building is originally built back in the late 18th century, then renovated a couple of times before 2015 when it became the masterpiece it is now.
THE INTERIOR
Honestly, if you’re looking for a luxurious countryside retreat, this is the place! We had a big room with a view of the Cotswolds fields, and we couldn’t have asked for more. Large windows, super comfy king-size bed, plenty of daylight, a stylish bathroom with a vintage bath, luxury fluffy bathrobes, digital radio & Nespresso Coffee machine… it was a DREAM! I couldn’t help but notice how much effort had been put into every single detail.
THE FOOD
Don’t even get me started on the food. We arrived at 6pm and we had a dinner at the restaurant at 7.30pm. It says on their website that their food “is made to be experienced” and it certainly is!!! I had been given a special gluten free vegan menu as requested in advance and Fil had a vegetarian one. I didn’t even manage to take photographs as it was so incredibly delicious.
However, I remembered to take some photos of our breakfast the next day, which was also amazing! I had gluten-free avocado toast and fresh orange juice, and Fil had scrambled eggs on muffins. I’m just gonna leave you with the photos as I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. But once again, hats off to the chef!
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD & THINGS TO DO
Sadly often, when you go to countryside retreats, there isn’t much to do apart from eat, sleep, and perhaps spa. However, with The Painswick, that’s not the case. There is SO MUCH stuff to do, especially if you’re lucky enough to get good weather.
After dinner on Friday night, we went for a walk in the town (it was absolutely magical!) and then we played pool in the hotel. The next day, after we checked out at noon, we went to explore the breathtaking landscapes of The Cotswolds. We did a 2 mile walk, but there are plenty of walking maps with different paths for you to pick from!
If you don’t fancy walking, you can explore the surroundings by bike! The price for bicycle hire is £24 per day if you book with the Painswick staff and give them a 48hrs notice.
You can also visit the alpaca farm and enjoy a walking experience with these fascinating animals if you’re an animal lover like myself! The walks cost £25 per person.
THE UNDER 30S CLUB
Here’s the best news! The Painswick is offering a special member’s club for under 30s with discounts on stays, food and cocktails! How cool is that?! You can sign up to get 30% off standard rate on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights, as well as 50% off cocktails during your stay. Here’s a link for their UNDER 30S CLUB. Enjoy!
THE CONCLUSION
The Painswick was a dream. My boyfriend was really surprised and absolutely loved our mini luxurious getaway. Are we going to return? Absolutely! I really want to bring my parents to this magic place some day. We can’t recommend it enough!
