9 GAME-CHANGING BLOGGING TIPS FOR BEGINNERS FROM A FULL-TIME BLOGGER:
1. Write about what youโre truly passionate about
Find your niche and unique voice. The chance is youโve heard that sentence before. Itโs not new information, but hear me out, as this is important. Finding your niche is vital for the success of your blog because in order to stay consistent and produce quality content week after week, year after year, you need to write about a topic youโre truly passionate about. These kinds of blogging tips for writers make a real difference.
For example, if youโre obsessed with finding great thrift store clothing, then write about this, instead of just fashion. Or you canโt live without your amazing morning smoothies and always talk to your friends about them. Then share your smoothie recipes with the world, rather than just overall food inspo. When youโre true to yourself and what youโre genuinely passionate about, the chance of attracting people who share the exact same interests as you, is much higher than if you were just to write about a general or popular topic (that perhaps other expert bloggers have advised you to blog about).

2. Find your perfect readers before they find you
โWhat does that even mean?!โ You might be wondering. Let me explain. If you want to have a successful blog, from the very beginning, you need to be creating your content with your ideal reader in mind. Spend some time and think about who you want to reach.
What is it that they are looking for, and what can you deliver? What are their needs, and how can you best serve them? These are all important questions you must keep in mind with every single post you write. When people are searching for information or tips online, all they care about is finding the answers they need. If you can be the person who offers these answers, then youโll be seeing happy and returning visitors, which will transfer in money eventually. (We will talk about blogging tips for making money in another post.)
3. Consistency is the KEY to success
I canโt stress enough how important is this. At the beginning, when youโre first starting, you wonโt be making any money and most likely you wonโt be getting many visits. But you need to be consistent with posting high-quality, valuable content, regardless. If you can post once a week, then post once a week, but donโt skip any weeks! If you can post twice a week, post twice a week, etc. Your schedule is up to you, but do yourself a favor and stick to it. If youโre going on a holiday, and you know that posting wonโt be possible for you during a particular period of time, then write and schedule some content in advance. These are some pro blogging tips right here!

4. Make your posts EASY to read
Useful, high-quality content is a must for any successful blog, but if youโre writing 13-page essays, no matter how helpful they are, no one will be reading them. Trust me. People get bored so easily, so you should be mindful of how you present your articles. Always use short paragraphs, headings and subheadings, and graphics to make your content easy to scroll through without missing key points.
5. Catchy, attention-grabbing titles
Click-bait titles are a big NO, but catchy and attention-grabbing ones are a yes from me. Remember, youโre competing with hundreds of thousands of other articles in the search engine, so you want yours to stand out. Otherwise, whatโs the point of all the hard work you put into writing a fantastic, resourceful post if no one is gonna read it?!
6. Make your blog pretty and mobile-friendly
Imagine searching for fat-burning vegan smoothies on Google and you come across an article that grabs your attention. You click on it, ready to dive into these game-changing smoothie recipes, and all you see are tiny letters you canโt even read and ugly unprofessional images all over the place. What would you do? Close it straight away, right? I know I would. Having a website thatโs pleasing to the eye is a key factor for keeping your reader engaged. Think of it as your home, or your office. You wonโt be inviting guests or hosting business meetings if your place is a mess. It wonโt be nice, and it wonโt be professional. The same applies to your blog. If you want it to be taken seriously, you must take it seriously.
7. Invest in the right tools!
When youโre wondering how to start blogging, donโt make the mistake of investing all your money in every single thing that every pro blogger is advising you to. Youโll be broke, overwhelmed, and youโll give up before you start.
The TWO main things you should invest in are:
- Hosting
- Website Theme
Thatโs all! You donโt need anything else at the beginning. For hosting, I use and recommend Bluehost (with a self-hosted WordPress website.) Iโve explained the exact process of setting up my blog here.
And for a website theme, I recommend checking Etsy. You can find a huge variety of gorgeous WordPress themes on Etsy for super low prices.

8. Use Pinterest to promote your content
Pinterest is the single best source of free traffic you can get to your blog, after Google search. So use it! This may be news to you, but trust me. This right is one of the blogging tips 2022 needs, and works. Donโt spend valuable time and energy on other platforms like Instagram or TikTok for blog traffic because they are useless compared to Pinterest. You can still create accounts on these platforms and grow your social media presence if you have the time or desire to do it, but donโt rely on them for traffic.
9. Treat it like a full-time job
Lastly, if you want to monetize your blog and turn it into a business, you must treat it as a full-time job from the very beginning. Blogging is not a fast game, it does take time, dedication, and hard work, but it can be super rewarding if done properly. Woody Allen says that 80% of success is showing up, so even on the days when you feel like quitting and giving up, donโt! Keep it up, and the results will follow.
