New year, new lockdown. Wondering what to wear when working from home? Whether you should get dressed or not? To wear shoes or not? Scroll down to find answers to all of these questions and more. This post is all about working from home outfits.
Firstly, let’s take a moment to appreciate and admire all the fashion editors and fashionistas who get up and give their outfits 100% just as they would if they were going to the office. It takes quite a high level of commitment to be like them, but I’m not sure I’m one of them. Despite having worked from home as a fashion influencer for the three years and my love for outfit styling, the most important thing to me is COMFORT. Especially when it comes to working from home outfits.
As well as comfort, I love aesthetically pleasing ensembles and convenience when it comes to styling. So it will come as no surprise that my WFH wardrobe consists mainly of basics and neutrals. I love everyday outfits that can be thrown on and styled in no more than 5 minutes. This applies to my home office uniform too. But even though the following outfits may seem casual, all of them can be dressed up with a smart coat and white trainers when you simply must go out for your 30-minute lunch break that turns into 2 and half hours browsing your phone at your favourite coffee shop. I see you, now get back to work – once you finish reading this post of course.
Comfortable And Chic Working From Home Outfits:
Grey Joggers + White Cropped Hoodie
Recreate this look:
Starting off with one of my favourite combinations – a comfy pair of joggers and a white hoodie. Both of these are MUST-HAVE wardrobe essentials when it comes to my WFH fashion and if you want to make your day-to-day dressing easier you should add them too, in case you don’t have them already. Studies have shown that 61% of employees are more productive when the dress code is relaxed, and what’s more relaxed than joggers and a soft hoodie!?
Black Leggings + White Bodysuit + Maxi Cardigan
Recreate this look:
Did you think that the black leggings are only for working out? You couldn’t be further from the truth. A good all-black pair of leggings can be such a great all year round wardrobe staple. They will see you through every kind of day, both on and off duty. They are comfortable enough to balance your laptop on your lap but versatile enough to dress up or down to your preference. Personally, I like to style them with a maxi cardigan over a simple bodysuit for a cosy, snuggle look, but instead of a cardigan you can easily put a classy white shirt for a more elegant and polished look. Either way you’ll look fabulous.
Style tip – For a maximum comfort go for a seamless pair of black leggings. I love the Jilla Active ones. They fit like a glove. The quality is amazing and so is the price!

Beige Knitwear Matching Set
Recreate this look:
I really struggle to concentrate and stay inspired when I’m uncomfortable, or I don’t feel good in my own skin, and there’s nothing that makes me feel more pulled together than a chic matching loungewear set. There’s something magical about matching clothes. It’s like they’ve been made to restore your inner balance.
Bonus points if the set is in a neutral colour. That will make it more versatile, and you can mix and match it with other garments from your closet. For matching sets and work from home loungewear, I always go to ASOS. I love their pieces, they’re not only fashionable but affordable too.
Monochromatic Look
Recreate this look:
When in doubt about what to wear, pick one shade for your whole look and stick to it. That shouldn’t be too hard if you’re building a neutral wardrobe whilst sticking to similar earthy tones. But nevertheless, getting your hands on a few matching sets will definitely make your life easier. Remember, we’re here to create maximal style with minimal effort. I love this knitted jumper and wide leg trouser set from ASOS. It’s so soft and comfy, perfect for when you don’t want to try too hard but still want to look chic.
Beige Sweatpants + White Fitted Top
Recreate this look:
Every girl should have a classy beige pair of sweatpants in her wardrobe. I assure you, you’ll make so much use of them even after the lockdown is over. But for now, here’s a cute effortless working from home look. Just add a white fitted top and voilà! Don’t get me wrong, being comfy is a huge priority, but there’s a limit to how far you could take it. I aim to be comfy and productive, not laying on the sofa eating Cheetos, scrolling through cat videos and memes. The only distraction we’re talking about is how eye-catching your outfit is.
Grey Leggings + White Top + Long Grey Cardigan
Recreate this look:
When it comes to your WFH outfits, I can’t stress enough the importance of having the basics in your wardrobe such as leggings in neutral colours (grey, beige & black) and classy white tops.
To elevate this simple legging + white top look, add a long cardigan for the perfect blend of “I just want to stay in bed” and “Beyoncé is my Spirit Animal”. It will keep you feeling snug, but stylish at the same time.
Velour Shirt + Shorts Set
Recreate this look:
You don’t have to choose between style and comfort because you can have both? Velour is my new discovery. This fabric feels softer than the inside of a rose, you’ll want to wrap yourself up. It will keep you snug whilst looking hot at the same time. Once you get your hands on a neutral velour set, you’re good to go. I pretty much hibernate in mine and don’t care who judges me.
To finish off this post, I’ll answer the question of many people’s lips: Should you wear shoes with your working from home outfits or not. When your home is your office, no rules apply!
Some people buy work shoes to wear at home and that’s totally okay, if that makes them feel more motivated to work and boosts their productivity. But for me personally, I’d never cheat on my soft sexy slippers. It’s scientifically proven that the way you feel (physically) heavily affects your levels of your creativity. So when it comes to comfort, there are no shoes out there – that I’m yet to find – that can replace my beloved UGG slippers.
