TENERIFE TRAVEL DIARY
My family and I landed at Tenerife on 8th of August. Four mini suitcases, some euro in cash, an empty bottle of water and an excitement big enough for a whole rugby team before playing a match was all we were carrying with us by the time we left the airport. We got the perfect plan for our 7 days stay! All day, every day, sunbathing, tasting new and different cuisines, shopping a lot (duh!) and trying to visit all the best tourist attractions somehow in between.
From the bunch of restaurants we visited, I highly recommend the Italian pizza, pasta & grill Mamma Mia in Playa de las Americas. It’s been more than a month now, but I still remember the taste of the lovely crispy garlic focaccia and the fresh and tasty mozzarella salad with garden tomatoes and basil pesto dressing I had this night!
Apart from Italian, we also tried some American, Mexican and traditional Spanish cuisine. Everything was absolutely fab! In our third day, I think, we decided to go for something local and picked a cosy little seaside restaurant in the center of Las Galletas to have some yummy seafood specials. To be honest no one of my family is a huge fan of seafood, but we were all impressed by the dinner plates served.
As of the attractions, we visited Siam Park, Loro Parque and the volcano El Teide. Oh well, just a half of El Teide. Actually, one quarter. We weren’t dressed properly with the necessary equipment to climb the volcano (because we came in to the island with cabin baggage only and didn’t have enough space to put some warm clothes), and we were aware of that before taking the road, but my sister and I really wanted to see where some parts of Fast & Furious 7 have been filmed, so it was totally worth it. The view was stunning!
I was absolutely amazed by Loro Parque too! An excellent destination for all the family, probably the best animal park I have visited so far. Definitely recommend it!
However, Siam Park was an extremely overrated tourist attraction. I was prepared to see something spectacular after an hour waiting to get in, but all my family and I got at the end of the day was a massive disappointment. The park was three times smaller than I expected with about 10 (not counting the children ones) attractions in total. For each one we were queuing at least for 90min and I am actually pleased nobody passed out or even worse got a heat stroke. So my apologies to Tripadvisor but if you’re not planning of totally wasting your day and money, then DON’T go to Siam Park!
In conclusion, we actually managed to check everything from our list! Got some nice tan, visited all the attractions wanted, did a really good shopping (almost been charged for an overweight cabin baggage at the airport on our way back haha) and spent a lovely holiday all together!
